ENCOURAGEMENT
AFTER
THE
1994 CONGRESSIONAL
ELECTIONS
A
Letter to the President
Dear Mr.
President:
In these dark days for our political party, we
should take heart in the words of the first Democratic
President, Andrew Jackson:
"One man with courage makes a majority."
Other of his words were downright prophetic:
"There are no necessary evils in government.
Its evils exist only in its abuses. If it would confine itself
to equal protection and, as Heaven does its rains, shower its
favors alike on the high and the low, the rich and the poor, it
would be an unqualified blessing."
For all your work up to this point -- and from
now on -- in this most democratic endeavor, thank you, Mr.
President. Thank you!
