MAKING PEACE

IN DEFIANCE OF TERRORISTS

An Unpublished Letter to Los Angeles Times

Although we may never know for sure, the main reason the terrorists blew-up Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland probably wasn't to kill any of the hundreds of men, women, and children in the plane or on the ground. Instead, the terrorists may well want to kill the prospects of peace for millions of others in the Middle East.

Just as the mass-murderers should be brought to justice -- as long as innocent people are not caught in the crossfire, lest we sink to the level of the terrorists -- we must not let these insane cowards intimidate us!

Let all those who renounce terror be heard -- call their bluff if nothing else -- let's forge ahead to make the Middle East and the rest of our world a more peaceful, prosperous, and just place in which to live.
