The utter contempt shown for democracy by the Filipino rebel leader "El Gringo" convinces me that if Colonel North, Admiral Poindexter, and C.I.A. Director Casey had gotten away with their schemes, the U.S. would have been left with a government of, by, and for the powerful, the rest of us be damned -- a betrayal of everything America stands for, all done in the name of "patriotism"!
